Dr. Noboru Saito is a Professor of General Medicine at Dokkyo Medical University Saitama Medical Center, where he established the Department of General Medicine in April 2016. His department provides comprehensive care for patients with undiagnosed or complex conditions through a holistic approach that integrates Western medicine and Japanese traditional medicine (Kampo). This cross-disciplinary model addresses not only physical symptoms but also psychological and social factors, ensuring patient-centered care.
Dr. Saito’s research focuses on general medicine, primary care, clinical reasoning, geriatrics, oriental medicine, home medical science, and telehealth. He has significantly contributed to advancing integrated care models and improving diagnostic strategies for patients with multi-faceted health issues. His department also operates a home medical care program through the Integrated Patient Support Center, offering planned medical management for patients with severe psychosomatic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and advanced malignancies.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to medical science and patient care, Dr. Saito received the International Best Researcher Award (IISTAC 2023) and the International Best Researcher Award at ISTRA 2024. He is actively involved in medical education, teaching General Practice and Public Health at the School of Medicine, and mentoring future physicians in clinical reasoning and holistic care.
