Dr. Swathi Pothala is an academician and researcher in the field of Computer Science with expertise in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), and computational bioinformatics. With a strong background in teaching, research, and innovation, she has contributed significantly to interdisciplinary studies that combine computer science techniques with healthcare and biological data analysis.
Dr. Swathi completed her Ph.D. from Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV), Tirupati, in 2023. Her doctoral research titled “Identifying Diabetic Retinopathy using Big Data Analytics based on Long Noncoding and Circular RNAs” focuses on the application of advanced computational techniques for identifying biomarkers associated with diabetic retinopathy. Her research integrates machine learning algorithms with RNA data analysis to support early diagnosis and improved understanding of diabetes-related retinal disorders.
She obtained her Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering from RVR & JC College of Engineering in 2011 with distinction. Earlier, she completed her Master of Computer Applications (MCA) from Bharath University in 2008, also graduating with distinction. Her academic training provided a solid foundation in data science, software engineering, and intelligent computing technologies.
Dr. Swathi began her teaching career as a Lecturer at Gate Institute of Technology and Management Sciences, Tirupati, where she worked from 2011 to 2012. She later served as an Assistant Professor at Sree Vidyanikethan Institute of Management, Tirupati, from 2012 to 2014. Since 2014, she has been associated with the Department of Computer Science at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, where she works as an Academic Consultant. In this role, she actively contributes to teaching, academic mentoring, and research activities in advanced computing fields.
Her research interests include Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, and the computational analysis of Long Non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and Circular RNAs (circRNAs). Through her work, she aims to develop intelligent data-driven solutions that can support healthcare diagnostics and other real-world applications.
Dr. Swathi has published numerous research papers in reputed international journals and conferences, including IEEE, Springer, and Scopus-indexed publications. Her research contributions cover diverse topics such as deep learning-based brain tumor detection, image-based object recognition models, generative AI systems for student mental health support, machine learning techniques for crime prediction, and artificial intelligence applications in agriculture. She has also published significant work on RNA-based computational analysis for diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and COVID-19.
In addition to research publications, Dr. Swathi has contributed to academic books and book chapters. Her work includes publications on the role of artificial intelligence in IoT and the use of big data analytics for long non-coding RNA analysis in healthcare and plant biology. She is also an active innovator with multiple patents, including systems related to AI-based secure voting, intelligent recommendation systems, adaptive machine learning decision-making, and AI-driven educational tools.
Dr. Swathi regularly participates in academic conferences, workshops, and faculty development programs to enhance her research and teaching capabilities. She has presented several papers on data mining, cloud computing, IoT, big data analytics, and RNA-based disease analysis at various academic institutions.
