Dr. Pitta Paramjyothi has won the title of IRC 2025 Research Star Award under the Professor of the Year Award, a testament to her unwavering commitment to excellence in medicine and education. As a dedicated doctor, ambitious physiologist, and passionate writer, she has spent 17 years forging a career that not only exemplifies clinical and academic excellence but also inspires the next generation of medical professionals. Holding an MBBS and an MD in Physiology, Dr. Paramjyothi has dedicated her career to making physiology more dynamic and clinically impactful through innovative teaching and groundbreaking research. Her areas of expertise include nerve conduction studies, EEG, ECG, autonomic function testing, sleep studies, and cardio- respiratory exercise testing, and she has contributed significantly to the field with 28 publications as an author during her tenure as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department of Physiology. From the very outset of her career, Dr. Paramjyothi’s potential was evident. In 2006, she was honored with the Dr. C. S. Ramayya Memorial Medal at NTRUHS Vijayawada as the Best Outgoing Student in MD Physiology—a recognition that set the stage for her subsequent accomplishments. Her academic prowess and commitment to advancing research were further recognized when she received a Certificate of Excellence for her outstanding contributions as a reviewer for the International Journal of Biochemistry Research and Review. In addition to this, she has served as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Medical and Health Sciences and as an Advisory Board Member for the International Journal of Analytical Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Paramjyothi has also lent her expertise as a reviewer for the International Journal of Clinical and Biomedical Research and Loop Frontiers, and she is recognized as a Google Scholar Researcher and an ORCID Researcher. Her dedication in the laboratory and classroom earned her the title of Best Worker in Physiology, and she has been a valued resource person in the Medical Education Unit. Furthermore, her contributions include membership on the Scientific Review Committee at GMC Siddipet and the compilation of a log-book for postgraduate MD Physiology students, reinforcing her commitment to structured and effective learning. Dr. Paramjyothi’s academic journey is further distinguished by her active pursuit of continuous professional development. She has successfully completed multiple certifications under the ICMR-NIE courses, including the Basic Course in Biomedical Research, Scientific Writing in Health Research, COVID-19 – Learn and Lead, the NvCCP Prescribing Skills Course for Indian Medical Graduates, and the Ethics Review of Health Research. In 2007, she received the First Prize on Essay Writing on Alzheimer’s Day, and she showcased her research acumen with a notable paper presentation at St John’s Medical College, Bangalore. Her contributions extend beyond research and academics; she has participated in the APAIDS Control Society’s Training Programme on Sensitisation on HIV/AIDS, and has been involved in the National Level CME on Lab-Based Electives in the MBBS Curriculum: Opportunities and Challenges at St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences. In addition, she has enriched her professional development through Faculty Development Programmes, including specialized training at DrNTRUHS Vijayawada and participation in the National Level Faculty Development Programme on AI-Accelerated Medical Research at Asram, Eluru MEU, and IQAC. Her active role as a speaker at the NTTC Workshop at KMC Warangal and her participation as a delegate in the Faculty Development Programme at OMC Hyderabad further underscore her leadership and dedication, especially noted during her valiant efforts as a COVID-19 warrior. Her commitment to academic excellence is mirrored in her extensive involvement in assessment and evaluation processes. Dr. Paramjyothi has served as an Observer for DrNTRUHS examinations in Vijayawada, as well as an Evaluator for the DrNTRUHS Examination Answer Slips, while also fulfilling roles as both an Internal and External Examiner. Notably, she participated in the CME AIIMS Bibinagar e-Poster Competition as a Professor and Head of Department, a role that has further cemented her reputation in the academic community. As a member of the Enquiry Committee at GMC Siddipet, she has actively engaged in ensuring the integrity of academic processes, while her participation in various national and regional workshops, CME sessions (including national, zonal, regional, and state levels), symposiums, webinars, and national seminars reflects her commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth. Additionally, her role as a Sub Committee Member of Physiology for KNRUHS Warangal has allowed her to contribute to the enhancement of medical education standards. Dr. Paramjyothi’s leadership and service extend to numerous committees within her institution. She has been an active member of the Gender Harassment Committee, the Mentoring Committee for First MBBS students, the Hostel Committee, the Anti-Ragging Committee, the Curriculum Committee, the Internal Grievance Committee, and the Sexual Harassment Committee at GMC Siddipet. Her role in organizing the International Yoga Day Celebrations further illustrates her holistic approach to wellness and education. Moreover, she has served as the Chairperson for First MBBS Practical Examinations, has been a dedicated thesis guide for postgraduates in MD Physiology and PhD students, and has organized electives for final-year MBBS students. Her contributions as an Internal and External Examiner, as well as a Digital Evaluator for KNRUHS Examination Answer Slips, highlight her commitment to maintaining high academic standards. Additionally, Dr. Paramjyothi is a proud Scopus Member and has been trained as an NMC Assessor, reflecting her status as an authority in medical education and evaluation. Her professional journey is further enhanced by her participation in various training programmes aimed at further refining her educational methodologies. Dr. Paramjyothi has successfully completed the Basic Course in Medical Education at Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad, both through the institution’s own program and the NMC-accredited course. She has also taken part in the Revised Basic Course Workshop and Training in AETCOM at GMC Siddipet and represented her institution as a delegate in the CISP – MCI program at GMC Siddipet. Recognizing the importance of emergency preparedness, she actively participated in the NBEMS CPR Awareness Programme in 2023, and furthered her expertise by attending the National CME cum Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Physiology and Healthcare as a delegate at AIIMS Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Her commitment to professional development was recognized at the National Workshop on “The Journey Through Medical Research Regulations: Guidance for Dealing with IHEC, IAEC, and IBSC” at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry, and she earned a Certificate of Completion in Healthy Simulation from SOS Help! – A Guide to Health Care Simulation Operations for Non-Technical Clinical Professionals.
